"People are stupid".....thats quite the statement..... Not all the directions of the stop light might be covered by snow..... so if only one direction knows that they should be treating an intersection as an all way stop .....some issues may arise, like accidents. Edit: So the "but somtimes" argument does not apply to you? "but sometimes people dont clean the lens" equals an argument that all old style lights are dim... "But LEDS never burn out and sometimes dont go completely out" = a reason why LED's are the only way to go. I know this is an old video I am commenting on but you should probably learn a little humility and understand that maybe there are reasons for things that you might not ~gasp~ understand.

Here's a question about this set up. I had a tv/vcr combo and plugged a dvd player into it, I got the macrovision effect with the screen going red, when I explained to the guy at radio shack he recommended an RF modulator and using that fixed the issue. Whats with that?

I can agree with the workflow concept. For some, however, the exporting is an important and annoying process. Having it move faster is essential. In my workflow I edit and export about 6-10 hours of content a week. The exporting is a major issues and while it is happening it causes most other computer-based activities incapable of normal use/operation. I try to render these videos over night or on weekends, but it becomes disruptive attempting to manage that part of the workflow (and god forbid if I find an error that results in a second export). I just want to drop that out there. For you, if your video exports in 20 minutes or so, I can totally see how that would not be worrisome, nor why you would you want to invest time/money in a small and insignificant gain. BTW, for the most part I love your videos. Want to show some love!

Placing a swamp cooler indoors is a really bad idea. I live in Utah where it gets above 110F and I tried one of these little swamp coolers and it worked for about 30 minutes until the room was humid then it got progressively worse (I was even adding ice to the water tray). You need to have a swamp cooler outside a window or on the roof of your home facing the sun for as many hours of the day as possible. This way the humidity isn't all being trapped inside your home and the sun is helping speed up the evaporation. This is why you usually see them on roofs (windows work but reduces efficiency because of less sunlight). I actually work in a warehouse the size of an American football field and it's entirely cooled by 8x industrial swamp coolers. Yesterday when it was above 110F it was only 80F inside the warehouse. Pretty impressive.

With regards to the switches on plugs, the UK plugs are quite hard to pull out compared to the North American ones (you can't just tug the wire) so the switches are certainly very convenient. Agree with the rest of what you say though, the switches don't improve safety.

Strange but I'm 48 and bought the first fan in my life that starts on high last year. I've been an electrician since my early 20's but I thought it was annoying because me and my wife have twisted the knob off many times trying to turn it off on low instead of high. Seems backward to me. Every fan I remember having was off, low, medium, high. Still have other fans that order. I understand what your saying but that's a topic for another time.

I agree about amber turn signals, but it should be clear to most, that car makers and all governments do not care about public safety(keeping their political title is all they actually care about) and would far rather that you die so they can confiscate your savings if you have no will(and even if you do). Especially in the U.S.! So trust no other drivers Ever and you'll be fine.

Not completely sure about this, but I think here in Germany they are supposed to be protecting everything, even the lights and you need at least two in your home, so that not everything shuts of at once. And if you don't have them, you are required to include them if you change anything in your electrical system. If you don't, it's your own fault and it's your careless behaviour and you are personaly responsible if anything happens. And you are supposed to test them once a year.

I love all the people making fun of audiophiles in the comments. Most have probably never experienced quality audio and therefore have no earthly idea how much it changes the music and film experience. Ive had friends that have told me they are completely fine with their 50 dollar headphones, I then proceeded to have them listen to a high quality song on my HD 660s and amp and dac which comes out to just over $1000. Needless to say they are transfixed the whole song and afterwards feel they need to get a pair. Good quality A/V equipment completely changes everything about the experience.

If a baby sticks a metal object in an outlet which is switched off, it doesn't get an electrice shock, so a safety mechanism? We also have an ingrained habit to turn off sockets when not in use, again, safety I think. Yes, I am aware they could it on switch on themself, but it's just another safety feature, I think.

In Canada, we do something a little different with the duplex receptacles. Yeah, we leave the tabs on and use them the same way as a normal American installation. But in some places like kitchens it was commonplace to break the tang on the hot side and use 14/3 cable, White to neutral, Black to one outlet's hot, Red to the other outlet's hot. Supply it with a ganged breaker from the panel, and then you have two 15A circuits in the same outlet - it worked great when you wanted to plug a kettle and a 4-slice toaster into the same kitchen outlet. You could always tell these outlets because if you went from narrow slot to narrow slot with a voltmeter, you'd see 240V AC... With GFCI requirements, that has gone away, and been replaced mostly with 20A T-slot GFCI outlets on 12/2 wire. AFAIK, running the 14/3 and the ganged 15A breakers is still okay, but only in places where a GFCI would not be required. The outlet behind my fridge is, for example, wired this way. Which is great because my microwave oven sits atop my fridge, but it does mean that a nuisance trip caused by my microwave would kill the power to the fridge. I do, however, have a total of 30A at 120V available between the halves of that outlet. Always follow building code in your region and always get it inspected. The inspector is your friend... even if he can be a pain in the ass at times.

Would TOSLINK even need another piece of plastic for a two-way signal? Couldn't you just use two different light frequencies to send and receive? One device having a red LED with a diode that reacts to blue light, and the other having a blue LED with a diode that reacts to red light? Or have multiple LEDs for other audio channels, thus multiplying the bitrate?

Wonder if you could make it better by using the led sets that emit light in one direction, place them lower more to the side but angle it, instead of straight down, more toward the street if that would be a better system for it too, but I don't really know.

Professional thermostats that can be programmed with schedules and times and things, often have a feature where you can just bump the temperature in a particular direction, and it will automatically reset to the standard running program after two hours or so. And I’m sure on some of them, that two hours is adjustable. So there is your temporary cooldown option. And here’s my pointless engagement.
